Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who singlehandedly humiliated authorities when he tunneled out of a maximum security prison in July, has been captured, Mexico’s president said Friday.

“Mission accomplished,” Enrique Pena Nieto said on Twitter. “We have him.”

A law enforcement source confirmed the arrest to NBC News.

Guzman, leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel and a master of underground tunnels, set off a furious manhunt when he casually slipped away from Altiplano prison near Mexico City, a Hollywood-style escape through a mile-long tunnel outfitted with a motorbike that led to construction site.

Captured Armenian woman returned to Armenia tells about her adventures in Azerbaijan

76-year-old Lusik Abovyan, resident of the Armenian Koti village, who was captured by Azerbaijan on their state border, told about her adventures today.

Governor of Armenia’s Tavush Province came to Ijevan city hospital today to visit Lusik Granny, who was returned to Armenia today. Lusik Granny told him, the doctors and her relatives that during her stay in Azerbaijan, she was provided with everything, although she refused to eat. The Granny isn’t complaining of health.

Lusik Abovyan said that on November 6 she got lost in the fog and appeared on the Azerbaijani side. “I was lucky; nobody opened fire,” she said.

Currently Lusik Granny is in Ijevan city hospital, where she is undergoing examination.

AINA News report: Up to 373 Assyrians Captured By ISIS, Executions Have Begun

Hasaka, Syria (AINA) — According to Assyrian leaders in Hasaka, the number of Assyrians captured by ISIS is as high as 373. There are 150 confirmed captives whose names are known. Various news agencies reporting today raised the number of captured Assyrians to 250.

Aid to the Church in Need is reporting that some of the captured Assyrians have been executed. The Aleteia news agency is reporting that up to 350 Assyrians may have been captured, and that executions have begun. Aleteia reports that 12 fighters from the Assyrian village of Tel Hurmiz, two of them women, have been executed by ISIS.

According to Assyrian fighters in Tel Tamar, ISIS has withdrawn from the Assyrian villages of Tel Goran, Tel Shamiran and Tel Jazira. But residents and fighters have not reentered the villages for fear of booby traps left by ISIS.

Assyrian sources in Hasaka say ISIS claims to have sent pictures of the captured Assyrians to the U.S. government with an ultimatum to stop airstrikes against them else all Assyrians will be killed.
