Although it is presently advantageous to Russia to have supreme advantages in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process, Turkey’s possible intervention is highly undesirable for the country, Paul Goble, a former US diplomat, said in recent comments to the paper.
According to him, Russia has serious concerns that an unpredictable partner like Turkey may seize its proactive monopolistic role in the conflict zone.
But he said the intervention plan may succeed in case of heavy escalations like the April 2016 fighting.
Mr Goble also highlighted the US Department of State’s recent statement on the situation around Karabakh, considering the country’s assistance important in the implementation of special measures along the Line of Contact.
